Sciatica Treatment at Smith Chiropractic

Sciatica Therapy in Cordova:  Sciatica is an irritation of the sciatic nerve which is the longest and largest nerve in the body.  It extends from the lower back all the way to the toes. Common symptoms of patients with sciatica range from pain in one or more of the buttock regions to excruciating pain all the way down the back of the leg to the foot.  Additional symptoms may include numbness, weakness, burning sensations or what is often described as a feeling in the extremities that is either “odd” or “different”.

What Causes Sciatica?

There are 3 main causes of sciatica and they include:

  1. An impingement or pressure on one of the nerves that forms or contributes to the sciatic nerve.
  2. A rotated pelvis that stresses the sacroiliac joint.
  3. When the piriformis muscle compresses the sciatic nerve
